build a Culture of Peace and Non-Violence is the great challenge humanity
is facing today. That includes changes in human relations in a deeper and
broader scale. It touches our knowledge and expertise in dealing with the
multidimensionality of our being and with the global interconnectedness of
our experience.

The
movement to change the basis of our civilization is a global movement
searching for the foundations, new visions and values, capable of
providing support to the emerging planetary society.

DECADE
FOR THE CULTURE OF PEACE
MACRO TRANSITIONS
The
United Nations have declared the years 2001-2010 the decade for the
Culture of Peace and Non-Violence, program under the responsibility of
UNESCO. Scholars, researchers and leaders of many civil society
organizations are also conceiving this period as the time for a Macro
Transition in our civilization.

ROLE OF EDUCATION
Education,
involving schooling, communication, cultural production, family and
community development conceived as a broad, pervasive and continuous
social process has a central role to play in this transition

EMPOWERMENT
The
Education for Peace Globalnet is evolving as a world community for
learning and action. Its practical objective is the empowerment of each of
its participants through the development of knowledge and the exemplarity
of their action.

INTERACTIONS
It
promotes personal and virtual interaction and cooperation among
institutions involved with Education for Peace programs and projects.

CONSENSUS
FORMATION
It
is designed to work as an open space for dialogue, explorations, insights,
consensus formation that could help to enhance the process of change

Meeting |
PLANETARY
CITIZENSHIP
The
2002 edition of the Education for Peace International Meeting is dedicated
to the construction of a Culture of Peace and the development of a Planetary
Citizenship. It will happen in São Paulo, Brazil from October
7th. to 11th.

NEW
BASIS
For
this gathering we are inviting individuals who are involved in significant
projects on Education for Peace considered broadly as a planetary process
committed to build the basis of a new, healthier and happier civilization.

200 EDUCATION,
COMMUNICATION, FAMILY AND COMMUNITY PROJECTS
Two
hundred innovative projects on schools, teachers development,
communication, cultural production, family and community will be reported
on the three first days. A Learning Book will be produced from the
presentations and discussions.

CULTURE
OF PEACE AND GLOBAL GOVERNANCE
Consensus
Formation on principles, guidelines and institutional action will be the
focus of the last two days of the 2002 Meeting. The role of culture and
education for the Global Governance will be the central topic for the main
speeches and panels on media, world religions, international organizations
and educational institutions.
